Flag #155 is a deeply meaningful memorial piece created for the Wea Township Fire Department in Lafayette, Indiana, in honor of Deputy Chief Steven Smith, who was killed in the line of duty on June 25, 2006.
This Engine Series Retired Fire Hose American Flag was handcrafted to preserve the spirit of service, sacrifice, and brotherhood that Deputy Chief Smith represented throughout his career. Built from retired fire hose, the flag carries forward a piece of firefighting history while serving as a lasting tribute to a life dedicated to protecting others.
As part of this memorial, Wea Township Fire Department also purchased seven of our Patriotic Address Signs, one for each of seven members of Chief Smith’s family. Together, the flag and signs created a meaningful family tribute — extending his legacy beyond the firehouse and into the homes of those who continue to carry his memory every day.
We are honored that Wea Township Fire Department trusted Brotherhood Designs with creating these memorial pieces. Flag #155 and the seven Patriotic Address Signs stand as reminders that while a hero’s final call may come, their service, sacrifice, and impact on family, department, and community live on.
